At the Meiji shrine, visitors can offer prayers on wooden tablets that are then hung around a tree close to the shrine. Imagine my surprise when I saw a tablet written as gaeilge!

For three months touring a country it seems a little light, but there is always a tendency to over prepare for these sorts of trips. I’m sure two weeks in I’m going to be wondering why I thought it was wise to pack four water bottles.
